About Stonegate Pharmacy

Owner / Pharmacist

Rene graduated from The University of Texas College of Pharmacy in May 2003. Since his graduation he has concentrated his efforts on improving community pharmacy. Starting with S&S Pharmacy, he has tried to make his stores a place where people enjoy having their prescriptions filled.

When Rene is not working, he loves spending time with his wife and daughter. He also is the owner of an automotive shop, called South 1st Performance.

Pharmacist in Charge

Andy attended The University of Texas at Austin where he earned his Doctor of Pharmacy in 2008, and later received his Master of Science in Pharmacy and Community Pharmacy Residency. He holds a faculty position at The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy as an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Pharmacotherapy Division. After completion of the combined Master of Science/Residency Program, Andy joined Oakdell Pharmacy in San Antonio Texas where he was the Wellness Director and Pharmacist-in-Charge of their closed door specialty and home infusion pharmacy. In May of 2011, Andy moved to Austin, Texas and joined Texas Compounding Pharmacy. In January of 2012, Andy moved to Stonegate Pharmacy and assumed his current position where he will be developing the compounding and wellness services. Andy is also active in his current research focusing on the safety and efficacy of various routes of administration for Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy in menopausal women.

Outside of the pharmacy, Andy enjoys the outdoors with his wife and 2 weimaraner dogs, Eli and Olivia.

Nanita Garg, PharmD

Nanita gradated from The Univeristy of Texas College of Pharmacy and completed one additional year of residency with a focus on ambulatory care pharmacy. In her spare time she likes to make handmade jewelry and crafts as well as eat out with family and friends.

Kim Stengel, CPhT
Operations Manager

Born and raised in Austin, TX!! Go Horns Go!! Graduate of McCallum High School. Go Knights!!

Kim refers to herself as a pharmacy brat, since she grew up and worked in her Dad’s pharmacy. After he sold his store, she jumped across the river to South Austin and now can’t seem to leave. She has been a Certified Pharmacy Technician over 20 years. Kim began working with Rene in April of 2007 at S & S Pharmacy and then came over to Stonegate Pharmacy in the summer of 2009. In January 2010 she became the Compliance Officer to prepare for and meet accreditation requirements for DME providers. Currently, she is the Technician Director for CAPA and also a director for TPA’s Academy of Pharmacy Technicians. While most recently, she has maintained a seat on the Advisory Committee for the Pharmacy Technician Program at Austin Community College.

Patrick Salinas, CPhT

Patrick is one of our Compounding Technicians and is a IV certified technician. He’s been with the Stonegate team since August 2003. Patrick is also apart of an awesome band called BOCA ABAJO. Check out his band: BOCA ABAJO!

Derrick Waller, CPhT

Derrick is one of our Compounding Technicians. He is also our Technical Support Specailist. He’s been with the Stonegate team since June 2007.

Eric has been a part of the Stonegate team since March 2011.

Ruben Lopez, CPhT in Training

Ruben attended the University of Texas at Austin and studied Microbiology. Originally from San Antonio, Ruben hopes to gain the knowledge and exposure needed as he applies for pharmacy school. In his extra time, Ruben enjoys playing chess.
